Rocklin, Calif. – CPC Scientific Inc., a leading global synthetic peptide production company that helps bring life changing therapeutics and diagnostics to market, has chosen Rocklin, CA, as the location of its new U.S.-based manufacturing site. The company will initially bring with them up to 50 high-quality life-science and manufacturing jobs.
State of the City 2022 Highlights Economic Development and Business Growth
The Rocklin Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2022 State of the City breakfast at the Rocklin Event Center on June 23.
The morning was highlighted by Mayor Bill Halldin’s State of the City Address, where he covered key topics including ways the City will use its American Rescue Plan Act funds to support economic recovery from COVID-19; new businesses operating now or planned to open, major development projects across the City and more.
Take Note Troupe Delivers Rousing Shakespeare In The Park Performances

Last week, Take Note Troupe took the stage at Quarry Park Amphitheater for multiple live performances of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The cast powered through warm weather with outstanding comedic and dramatic performances and had a great crowd to cheer them on. The shaved ice truck was present to cool everyone down and even pets joined the evening’s festivities.
What is RHNA and how does it affect Rocklin?

The Regional Housing Needs Allocation, or RHNA, is a report that assesses housing needs for each region of California. Using demographic population information, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) calculates the housing needs across the state and works with local councils of government to determine how many new housing units must be planned in each region to meet growth of households in all income levels. This process is repeated every eight years.

Online Residential Permit Guide Now Available
City of Rocklin constituents planning a residential construction project now have access to an online permit guide to assist with the City’s permitting process.
The easy-to-use tool can be found at rocklin.ca.us/permit-guide and includes a step-by-step outline of the process that will be needed to obtain the correct building permit.
Topics covered include everything from bath and kitchen remodels, to home additions, to building an entire single-family residence.

1. What is the total projected cost of the project and how is it funded?
The project is 100% funded by the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Federal Grant, awarded to construction contractor George Reed for$4.46 million. No local funds are being used.
2. When will construction be complete?
The contractor has 180 working days to complete the project. With the official start on April 18, 2022, the project is scheduled to be completed by Jan. 5, 2023.

Summer Civic Career Program
The City of Rocklin opens its doors again to students from Rocklin high schools with the annual Summer Civic Career Program (SCCP), in partnership with Rocklin Unified School District (RUSD) and the Rocklin Educational Excellence Foundation (REEF).
The SCCP is an intense, two-week program that embeds students directly into the day-to-day life of working for local government. The experience provides seniors insight into careers in municipal government, as well as an appreciation for the work done by the City to sustain the local community.

Rocklin Hires Solano County Sheriff Captain Banks as Police Chief
Rustin Banks has been hired as Chief of the Rocklin Police Department and will step into this role on December 13.
Banks joins the City of Rocklin from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, where he most recently served as a captain commanding the Field Operations Division.
“It will be my honor and privilege to lead the Rocklin Police Department, an agency that is known far and wide for their high level of professionalism and community engagement,” Banks said. “I am eager to build upon the strong foundation the members of this Department have worked so hard to create.”

The Bennett Hospitality Group has signed a lease at 6604 Lonetree Blvd. in the City of Rocklin where they plan to open Bennett’s Westside Kitchen Bar Market in the fall of 2022.

The City of Rocklin celebrated the accomplishments of the Ray Johnson Family and the Original 13 Friends of the Library at the Wall of Recognition engraving ceremony on November 1.
Trader Joe’s Opens in Rocklin Commons Center
Trader Joe’s has officially opened the doors to their newest Rocklin location. On Friday, eager shoppers lined up outside the store in the rain, awaiting the 7:55 a.m. grand opening.
After the ribbon cutting, shoppers were given a lei on the way in the door as they walked through a corridor of cheering crew members.
