The City of Rocklin recognizes July as “Parks and Recreation Month” and encourages residents to discover the power of play and adventure within the City’s expansive park system.

To get people out and exploring, the City recently launched the “Capture Rocklin” scavenger hunt photo contest, with 40 photo goals for the public to find throughout the City including “animal tracks,” a “California State Poppy,” and “Joel Parker Whitney’s Tomb.”

Photos must be taken in Rocklin and can be submitted through email, in print, or by delivering a flash drive. Download a copy of the scavenger hunt list here and make sure to read the Official Contest Rules before starting your hunt.

“We know that the parks, trails and open space areas are highly valued by our residents and are an important part of why people choose to live in Rocklin,” says Sarah Novo, Parks and Recreation Manager. “Research shows that play is vital to our wellbeing and we hope that people have a blast finding all the items on our list!”

In fact, residents in most parts of Rocklin are able to walk a half-mile or less from their home to the nearest park so it shouldn’t be hard to find most of the photos.

• Movie Night at Whitney Community Park – July 19
• Rocklin Community Theater Performances of “West Side Story” – July 12-28

The City also partners with program-specific service providers who offer high-quality summer camps in City parks.
