Animal Licenses

Licensed dogs get benefits…

  • If your dog is lost or stolen, the City will know that you own the dog.
  • You can show proof of ownership to any third party.
  • You’ll receive a dog tag that must be worn by your dog at all times. Dogs are more quickly reunited with their families when they wear their tag.
  • You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are assisting the City in its effort to ensure that all dogs are properly vaccinated against rabies.

How do you license your dog?

The City of Rocklin Police Department has partnered with PetDatawhich is the nation’s only full-service dog registration provider. PetData makes licensing your dog easy. There are two options available for licensing:

Mail: Simply mail a copy of your pet’s current rabies certificate, along with your check to City of Rocklin Animal Licensing, C/O PetData, PO Box 141929, Irving, TX 75014.

Online: Go to PetData and enter your zip code under License Now. Select ‘Online’ in the green box and follow the instructions. You can license multiple pets at the same time and easily upload the required documents. All major credit cards are accepted but a small convenience fee will apply per transaction.

The City of Rocklin Police Department Animal Control Unit encourages spaying and neutering. The license fee for an altered pet is $40 for a three-year license. The fee for an unaltered pet is $61 for a three-year license. Generally, licenses expire at the same time as your dog’s rabies vaccination.

Purchasing a license and attaching it to your dog’s collar is one of the most important things you can do as a responsible pet owner. Displaying a current license tag on your pet’s collar makes it easy for animal control officers to quickly locate a lost pet’s owner information.
