Council Approves SWRA Improvements Based On Community Needs

Rocklin City Council approved of necessary improvements to the Sunset Whitney Recreation Area (SWRA) to be carried out by RSC Engineering, Inc.

The SWRA (formerly known as the Rocklin Golf Club) consists of 184 acres of land, being developed over a multi-phase Master Plan, which will add several desirable amenities to the landscape.

The professional services contract awarded to the contractor includes several amenities and improvements, listed below:

  • Design of the proposed pickle ball courts.
  • Selection of a prefabricated restroom facility with associated design for a foundation and utility connections.
  • Site civil design of the full parking lot and underground utility infrastructure.
  • Utility coordination with utility companies.
  • Technical studies to support an environmental document complying with California Environmental Quality Act guidelines.

Whitney Community Park Pump Track

Council approved measures to proceed with the development of the Whitney Community Park Pump track.

A contract for the Pump Track development has been awarded to American Ramp Company, while the construction of the parking lot extension will be decided at a later date concerning a different contractor.

The top priorities for the design and installation include a bicycle pump track, a rubberized surface surrounding the track, and a parking lot extension to increase on-site parking.

Construction is expected to begin late 2024/early 2025.
